New Delhi: The Kate Winslet you see in the advertisements for Lancome products is the real thing - no airbrushing here, claims the actress. The 40-year-old Oscar-winning star has revealed that she has a 'no-photoshop' clause with L'Oreal, Lancome's parent company, and explained why in an interview with E!News at the Elle Women in Hollywood event last weekend.

"I can only ever speak for myself and I can only ever do things that are important to me and it's a hope that other people might follow suit but it does feel important to me because I do think we have a responsibility to the younger generation of women," Kate told E!News.

"I think they do look to women who have been successful in their chosen careers and they want people to look up to, and I would always want to be telling the truth about who I am to that generation because they've got to have strong leaders. We're all responsible for raising strong young women, so these are things that are important to me," she added. (Also Read: Not Fair to Put Pressure on New Moms to Lose Weight, Says Kate Winslet)

This isn't the first time Kate has challenged existing Hollywood standards of beauty and body shapes. In July, she revealed to US magazine that she tells her 14-year-old daughter, Mia, "We're so lucky we're curvy." (Also Read: We're Lucky to Have Curves, Kate Winslet Tells Daughter)

"When I grew up, I never heard positive reinforcement about body image from any female in my life. I only heard negatives. That's very damaging, because then you're programmed as a young woman to immediately scrutinise yourself about how you look," she said.

As far back as 2009, Kate and fellow Brit Rachel Weisz campaigned to keep it real, wrinkles and all. Kate said in an interview with Harper's Bazaar, "I will particularly say when I look at movie posters, 'You guys have airbrushed my forehead. Please can you change it back?' I'd rather be the woman they're saying 'She's looking older' about than 'She's looking stoned.'"

Kate Winslet is the star of films like Titanic, Sense and Sensibility, Revolutionary Road, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and The Reader, for which she won an Oscar.
