Mumbai: Shiney Ahuja was offered a role in the Ranbir Kapoor-Priyanka Chopra-Ileana D'Cruz starrer Barfi, but he politely declined.

The Woh Lamhe actor was doing well for himself, and his acting skills were getting noticed by reputed B-town filmmakers. He had worked with Sudhir Mishra, the Bhatt camp and Anurag Basu, for whom he came up with one of his best performances, in Gangster.

However, the star's acting career came to an abrupt halt because of the alleged rape case filed against him by his maidservant. And all his well-wishers vanished. His Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi director stood by him for a while, but it seems that eventually he too gave up on his protégé.

Perhaps as a friendly gesture, Basu offered Shiney a role in his forthcoming film, Barfi. But it seems that the talented actor wanted a bigger chunk of the pie.

In a recent interview he said, "Anurag is like my brother. We had discussed the film, but it was just a casual conversation. He had told me about the part, but we never discussed it again. I have got offers, but nothing has been good enough. I am looking for a good offer and I am in talks with a couple of directors." We think Shiney should have taken up the role; after all, he made his presence felt even in a multi-starrer like Basu's Life In A Metro.
