With housefly as its hero, Telugu film Eega has buzzzzz
Hyderabad: Making a hero out of an ordinary housefly and managing to create a huge buzz around it. That is what makers of Telugu film Eega have managed to do. It will have a multilingual release, first in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam this Friday. The Hindi version will release about two weeks later.

Even before its release, the story of revenge of a housefly, Eega in Telugu and Naan Ee in Tamil, has created more than a buzz in the film world. In just two weeks, its trailers got five lakh hits on Youtube, impressive for a film where a housefly plays the hero.

"When I say I am making a film on a housefly, there will be wonder, smile. What would be the story? How can you make a fly act? 10-15 percent there will be heckling and thinking has he gone mad? I am still okay with that. But you can't ignore it. That is the USP of the film," said director S.S. Rajamouli

Rajamouli says Eega started as a small-budget experimental film but grew big as it developed. With over 90 minutes of visual effects and realistic animation, the film cost upto 35 crore rupees and will have a multilingual release.

"First time in Indian cinema you have realistic animation characters,'' added Rajamouli.

Rajamouli delivered a super-hit with Magadheera, starring Chiranjeevi's son Ram Charan Teja, and another hit with Maryada Ramanna that had no big stars. Making a hero out of a housefly is certainly going to be a much, much bigger challenge.
