A still from Baahubali
New Delhi:
SS Rajamouli's magnum opus Baahubali, starring Prabhas and Rana Daggubati, has been watched over a million times on YouTube - 1,206,198 as we write this - since it released on Monday evening.
Filmmaker Karan Johar, who is presenting the film, tweeted:
The Telugu version crossed 2 million views on Facebook in 30 hours:
Lush landscapes, temples, palaces and battlefields form the backdrop of the two-minute long trailer. The second half is devoted to warriors going into battle, led by actors Prabhas, who plays a double role of which one is the titular Baahubali, and Rana Daggubati as Bhallaladeva. Both are built to epic scale, with imposing physiques and costumes to match. Tamannaah Bhatia and Anushka Shetty play the female leads.
The trailer was launched on Monday by Karan Johar, director Rajamouli and the cast. It was preceded by a 16-second long teaser on Sunday.
A two-part epic, Baahubali is reputed to be the most expensive film made in India and is being made in both Telugu and Tamil. It will be dubbed in Hindi, Malayalam, English and, apparently, French. The cast also includes Ramya Krishnan, Nassar and Sathyaraj.
Part one of the film releases on July 10.
