Chennai: Actor-filmmaker Ragava Lawrence's Tamil comic horror, Kanchana 2, which recently completed a 50-day run in theatres, has grossed over Rs 100 crore at the box office worldwide.
"It's the first blockbuster of this year in Tamil cinema. It has done phenomenal business by collecting Rs 108 crores at the ticket window worldwide. It continues to run to packed house in select theatres across Tamil Nadu," trade analyst Trinath told IANS.
Said to be made on a budget of Rs 17 crore, Kanchana 2 has also turned out to be the most successful venture for all its stakeholders, going by the return on investment.
Mr Lawrence, who played the lead in the film, also helmed the film. Nitya Menon and Taapsee Pannu played his leading ladies.
According to Mr Lawrence, Kanchana 3 is currently in scripting stage.
