London: Actress Meryl Streep believes womendo more to make relationships successful because they wantthem to work more than men.

The Oscar-winning star says ladies invest time and effortinto their marriages and romances because they don't wanttheir relationships to fail, whereas guys tend to go with theflow when it comes to their love lives, reported Contactmusic.

"Women have their antennae up more. It is allself-preservation, they want the relationship to work. Womenmake a religion of relationships. They study how to make themwork, while men do not, as a generalisation," she said.

The 63-year-old screen icon also said that she isdelighted that film-makers are finally exploring emotions suchas heartache, embarrassment and lack of intimacy that manyolder couples experience.

"They don't make movies like this, about people my age, where their love life matters. That was very unusual. Love isuncomfortable, as is being stuck and feeling a need to get outof the rut that you are in," she added.
