Emraan Hashmi and Mahesh Bhatt at an event to promote their film Mr X.
Mumbai:
Actor Emraan Hashmi's sci-fi thriller film Mr X is all set to release on April 17. But while the makers are busy promoting the film, they aren't quite sure what line to take.
Recently at an event in Mumbai to promote the film, when the cast was asked about comparisons with Mr India, producer Mahesh Bhatt said, "The invisible man is not a new phenomenon in Indian cinema, there were many films that were made before Mr India. However, Mr X is technologically superior. It is a 3D film that will blow you away."
Mr X may be unusual but times have changed drastically when it comes to technology in cinema. When Shekhar Kapur's Mr India released in 1987, Anil Kapoor became a superhero. The lack of Hollywood movies and cable TV helped. Now, April 24 will see the release of Avengers: Age of Ultron, a 'technologically superior' film made on a very high budget. "But those scripts don't have the stories of Krishna and Arjun. The story of Mr X is deeply rooted in our culture. Obviously, our budgets can't match the Hollywood budgets and while our film is 3D it all boils down to the story," said Emraan Hashmi. Well, we agree that Hollywood and Bollywood budgets are different and while Mr X will mark the spot this coming Friday, we hope it also manages to hit the spot.
