Yami says she wants to spread the cheer that only food can bring into people's lives

Vicky Donor actress Yami Gautamhas joined a list of celebrities who are endorsing aninitiative to donate food towards the welfare of theunderprivileged.
The stars are campaigning for the initiative "Food forthe soul" launched by Food Panda with the NGO Uday Foundation,where people can log on to the portal and make monetarydonations that amount to a food item like foodgrains, pulses,vegetable oil, biscuits and so on.
"Living in our sheltered and cocooned worlds, it is ofteneasy to forget that we lead a life of privilege. The Food forSoul campaign sensitises us towards the fact that there aremany who are not even fortunate enough to get a basic squaremeal a day.
"This reminds us to share the joy we feel on eating greatfood with the less privileged. I am glad to partner with thiscampaign and join in spreading the cheer that only food canbring into our lives" she said in a video message.
TV actresses Ishita Sharma and Kritika Kamra are theother stars who are endorsing the initiative.FoodPanda, that has been online since May 2012, plans toextend the campaign in the coming months by tying up with NGOsin other cities as well.
"There are millions of underprivileged children in Indiawho struggle for every meal, every day. Through thisinitiative, we aim at touching some of these lives byproviding them with food and healthcare," said Rohit Chadda,MD Founder Foodpanda.in.
