The industry saw it coming, and fans made it happen - Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone-starrer Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has become the first film to cross Rs 100 crore mark within just a week of its release.
After a bumper opening of Rs.19.45 crore in the country, and an opening weekend of a whopping Rs 62.11 crore, the Ayan Mukerji directorial continued running to packed houses in India.
"100 crore. And still counting," tweeted trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
The youthful romantic entertainer released on May 31, and saw audiences who came either besotted by the movie's fun and frolicsome trailer, or by sheer word of the mouth.
A hit among the youths and elders alike, the movie has won the audience's heart with its well-suited cast, beautiful cinematography in snow-laden mountains, earthy locales of Udaipur and more, peppy music, exciting dance moves and a predictable, but well-executed script.
If the movie minted Rs 19.45 crore on its opening day, Saturday and Sunday brought in business of Rs 20.16 crore and Rs 22.5 crore, respectively.
