The British musician Zayn Malik, who has chosen to keep a low profile for the last couple of years, opened up about his daughter Khai in a recent interview. Zayn Malik talked about how fatherhood has brought about a new perspective in his life. Zayn shares his daughter Khai (now two-and-a-half years old) with former girlfriend Gigi Hadid. Zayn shared his insights about fatherhood with Alex Cooper for the podcast show Call Her Daddy. The teaser of the episode released on Instagram recently.
"Since I've had my daughter, the main thing in my mind is trying to be a good example to her," Zayn Malik told Alex Cooper. "That's why I'm even doing this interview, you know? I used to get a lot of anxiety around having a conversation like this. And I want her to be able to look at me and be like, 'My dad's doing this,'" Zayn said during the show.
Zayn also confessed that his "bad-boy" edge has softened since his daughter came into his life. "I keep being told I'm telling dad jokes," admitted the singer. However, Zayn has undoubtedly been enjoying this phase of life. The singer said, "And I'm leaning into it. I'm just like, "It's OK. It's cool."
Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid welcomed their daughter in September 2020.
"Our baby girl is here, healthy & beautiful," Zayn wrote on Twitter at that time. "To try put into words how I am feeling right now would be an impossible task. The love I feel for this tiny human is beyond my understanding. Grateful to know her, proud to call her mine, & thankful for the life we will have together x," he added in the post.

Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik started dating in 2015 but parted ways in 2018. In December 2019, they reconnected and welcomed their daughter in September 2020. However, again in 2021, they parted ways when the singer was accused of hitting Gigi's mother Yolanda Hadid.
Issuing a clarification, Zayn wrote on Twitter, "As you all know I am a private person and I very much want to create a safe and private space for my daughter to grow up in. A place where private family matters aren't thrown on the world stage for all to poke and pick apart. In an effort to protect that space for her I agreed to not contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member of my partner's who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago. This was and still should be a private matter but it seems for now there is divisiveness and despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a manner in which she deserves, this has been "leaked" to the press. I am hopeful though for healing for all involved with the harsh words shared and more importantly I remain vigilant to protect Khai and give her the privacy she deserves."
