Zsa Zsa Gabor's doctor holds off leg amputation
New York: Doctor treating veteran actress Zsa Zsa Gabor has deferred plans to amputate her leg as they will wait to see if antibiotics could help improve her condition.

"Over the next two days, the doctors are treating her with powerful antibiotics in the hope that they will affect the lesion on her lower leg," people.com quoted Gabor's representative John Blanchette as saying.

He added that the 93-year-old Moulin Rouge star's health is still precarious. The lesion "is now very deep, and 12 inches long." If the antibiotics don't work, doctors "will have to amputate. She will lose the lower half of her leg below the knee."

Gabor was hospitalised Sunday with a massive blood clot. A doctor was called to her Beverly Hills home after she complained about pain and swelling in one of her legs. She was referred to the emergency services and was taken to the UCLA Medical Center.

Her husband, Prince Frederic Von Anhalt, said she had a blood infection and was suffering from poor circulation in her right leg.
