Engineering a green tomorrow in IT city
Bangalore:

Bangalore is known as an IT hub and also as a garden city. Engineering students in the city brought these two worlds together through a summit on green IT.

Students conducted a mock parliament to discuss how technology and sustainable development can go hand in hand.

The message was clear, technological advances need to aid the goal of sustainable development.

"We know how important green technology is, we learnt a lot about various issues and how information technology has to keep in mind environmental problems," said student participant.

These young techies known usually for their number crunching and logical skills also applied their creative side through various competitions to promote environment technology.

"I was surprised to see wide range of issues these students raised from green IT to politics and land acquisition the main takeaway from this discussion was how we need to be aware that environment technology is going to be a thriving discipline in future," said Amitangshu Acharya, Project Officer, Arghya.

Students also got an opportunity to discuss Green IT projects implemented in major software companies.
