Supermodel and actor Claudia Schiffer attracted attention online after a photo of her with the pet cat in a backpack at the world premiere of Argylle surfaced on social media. She attended the premiere in London on Wednesday in support of her husband, director Matthew Vaughn, with her green-eyed cat, Chip. According to People Magazine, the cat has made an appearance in the spy movie. Chip was seen peeking out of a window in Ms Schiffer's yellow backpack as she spoke to reporters in London's Leicester Square.

Mr Schiffer wore a neon yellow argyle-patterned dress featuring silver diamond motifs as she arrived outside Odeon cinema in London's Leicester Square for the premiere. She completed the look with silver heels and sleek middle-parted hairstyle.

The backpack had a dome and air holes for the cat to breathe.

Chip plays the role of Alfie, who, along with his owner, are saved from being kidnapped after her books begin to write about sinister activities of a group.

However, experts have warned against carrying a pet like this, saying that Chip was likely "stressed" by the situation.

"Cats are extremely territorial and crave freedom of movement so placing them in a small and confined space and taking them to new and unfamiliar environments, unnecessarily, is likely to cause them stress, fear and anxiety and will not provide them with any benefit," Alison Richards, Head of Clinical Services at Cats Protection, told Daily Mail.

"Cats are sentient animals and should not be used as fashion accessories. We would strongly urge owners not to take their cats out in bubble pet carriers, as shown in the movie," she further said.

Animal welfare charity RSPCA concurred.

"These backpacks are also often small, very restrictive and interfere with temperature regulation," a spokesperson of RSPCA told the outlet.

Argylle, which stars Henry Cavill, John Cena, Bryan Cranston, Samuel L Jackson and pop star Dua Lipa, will release in cinemas on February 2, 2024.
