Ghaziabad: The Masuri police on Tuesday charged 159 persons for blocking National Highway-24 near Dasna Toll plaza on Monday evening while protesting over the death of a mechanic.
Masuri police station SHO Shavez Khan said residents of Yasingadhi village blocked the National Highway for nearly an hour. The mob also manhandled some policemen deployed there.
An FIR has been registered against nine named and 150 unnamed persons under various IPC sections, the SHO said.
The villagers staged the protest after the body of Shahrukh, 30, who had been missing, was recovered from Bhood Gadhi nullah in Dasna town on Sunday night. Shahrukh was a hand pump mechanic.
