An auto-rickshaw driver has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping and raping a nine-year-old girl in Ghaziabad, Delhi Police said on Monday.
The accused, 42-year-old Omprakash, was arrested by Delhi investigators from his hideout in Ghaziabad. The girl was allegedly kidnapped from outside her school in east Delhi's Seemapuri area on Saturday afternoon, police said.
"The accused persuaded the girl to board his auto-rickshaw on the pretext of dropping her home in Ghaziabad. Instead, he took her to a secluded spot and raped her," said a police officer.
After the rape, the attacker dropped the girl at Ghaziabad's Mohan Nagar area from where she reached home with the help of another auto-rickshaw driver, police said.
The girl studies in Class 3 in a school in Delhi's Seemapuri area, police said.
