Ghaziabad: A 22-year-old married woman suffered serious burn injuries today when a man threw acid at her face after she rejected his proposal in Vijay Nagar area in Ghaziabad.
The accused, identified as Lakhan, had proposed to the victim two days back at her residence while her husband had gone outside for work.
However, she rejected his proposal which angered the accused and he threatened the woman with dire consequences, Vijay Nagar Station House Officer Virender Yadav said.
The acid attack took place on Friday morning when the victim, a housemaid by profession, was going to Crossing Republic society for her work.
The victim was immediately rushed to hospital with 50 per cent burn injuries, Mr Yadav said.
A case has been registered against the accused, who is at large, the SHO added.
