New Delhi:
Quack Sumit Sharma (28), and Niharika (26), were arrested on Wednesday from East Jyoti Nagar area of Delhi after investigators sent a decoy customer to strike a deal for 'buying' a baby, police said.
As soon as a baby girl was handed over to the decoy customer after a Rs 3-lakh deal, Sharma and Niharika were arrested, said a police officer.
Sharma, who failed to complete his Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) degree from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, was running a nursing home in Shanti Nagar in Ghaziabad, police said.
"We arrested them red-handed and rescued the infant," said a police official. The rescued baby was brought by the culprits from Shastri Park area of east Delhi a few days back, police said. The baby has been sent to Udyan NGO in Gole Market, police said.
