Ghaziabad: Two men, allegedly in an inebriated condition, tried to rape an eight-year-old rag picker who was collecting empty bottles outside a liquor shop, police said.
The men, who were in a car, allegedly called the girl under the pretext of giving empty bottles. When she came near the vehicle, they allegedly dragged her inside and attempted to rape her.
Hearing her cries, people gathered at the spot and rescued the girl, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prashant Kumar said.
However, the men managed to escape. SSP Prashant Kumar claimed that the accused will be arrested soon.
