DTC bus conductor shot dead in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad: A DTC bus conductor was murdered by unknown assailants in Loni area of the district, police said on Friday.

Vedram Singh, resident of Tilakram colony in the district, was posted as a conductor at the Nandnagiri DTC depot in Delhi. He used to board staff bus at 4am daily from the border police Chowki.

His bullet-riddled body was found near the Kavita Cinema, police Chowki in-charge Virendra Yadav said.

Singh was shot in the head and his face was smothered by bricks, Yadav added.

In protest irated residents blocked the Delhi-Saharanpur highway for more than 2-hours that resulted in the police lathicharge and stone pelting by the mob.

Police officials assured the protesters of speedy arrest of the culprits and brought the situation under control.

The body has been sent for the postmortem, Yadav said, adding, further investigations are on.
