Foreign tourist robbed near Delhi, complaint in English rejected by cops

Ghaziabad: A 28-year-old Uzbek woman's complaint on an alleged robbery was rejected by police on Tuesday because her application was written in English.

The victim - Anistesia - was robbed by two-bike borne miscreants near Aditya Mall in Indirapuram area last night when she had gone to a mobile repairing shop, police said.

The robbers snatched her purse which had her passport, foreign currency, an expensive phone and her flat's keys and fled from the spot.

When she rushed to a nearby police station to get her complaint registered, she was turned down by the police personnel for writing her application in English.

However, her complaint was later registered at Indirapuram police station only after the intervention of Senior Superintendent of Police Dharmender Singh. He directed the officials concerned to get the complaint translated into Hindi and registered an FIR.
