Ghaziabad: A gang of cattle lifters has been busted with the arrest of four persons in Ghaziabad, police said on Friday.
The gang used to steal cattle from public places and transport them to their hideouts after sedating them with injections and later slaughter them, they said.
The arrests were made late on Thursday night on the basis of a tip-off that some gang members were coming towards Masuri area in Ghaziabad, a senior police officer said.
"Acting on a tip-off, police laid a trap and arrested four accused though eight of their accomplices managed to escape," he said, adding a country-made pistol and three knives were recovered from them.
