Ghaziabad:
A Home Guard was beaten to death by four men claiming to be journalists when he refused to allow a car carrying them as also an autorickshaw to cross a traffic barricade at Vasundhara area here.
Vimal Tiwari (32) was on duty at the Vasundhara traffic signal in Ghaziabad when the four men came in a car and asked Tiwari to allow them as also an auto to cross the barricade set up to regulate traffic flow on a route used by 'kanwariyas' (followers of Lord Shiva).
When Tiwari refused to comply, he was beaten up. The men fled from the scene soon after.
Tiwari was taken to a nearby hospital where he succumbed during treatment.
Inspector of Indirapuram Police Station, Gorakh Nath, said two cases have been registered and police are looking for the absconding men.
