Ghaziabad: Ghaziabad police unearthed an illegal arms factory in rural Modinagar town of this district, police said Monday.
Senior Superintendent of Police Nitin Tiwari said at a press conference that they received a tip-off from the owner of an arms factory, who was arrested last week, that another such factory was operating in the same village.
Police raided the residence of Abdul Rahman, 43, who was running the illegal arms factory from the premises, and arrested him.
A semi-finished country-made pistol with a silencer was recovered from him.
"I have never seen such a sophisticated country-made pistol equipped with a silencer. This implies that Rahman has links with hardened criminals," Tiwari said.
