Ghaziabad:
Counterfeit currency to the tune of Rs.7 lakh was seized in Ghaziabad and nine people, including two women, were arrested in two separate incidents, police said on Tuesday.
One counterfeiter gang was busted on Monday night at Kausambhi, where a group of six people, led by a woman, was trying to circulate fake currency. After a tip off by an informer, these people were rounded up, Ghaziabad Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nitin Tiwari told reporters.
After their interrogation, raids were conducted at a few places. The total face value of fake currency recovered in this incident was Rs.6,50,000. Mumtaz, Hina, Rafique, Moinuddin, Nuren and Baldev were arrested. They procured the currency from across the Nepal and Bangladesh borders, police said.
