Ghaziabad: A 30-year-old NRI woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping from a high-rise building of Crossing Republic society in Vijay Nagar area in Ghaziabad.
Ankita, who had come to India from Canada about 15 days back, jumped off the 14th floor of the building on Tuesday, police said.
She was reportedly upset after talks between her parents and her boyfriend's family regarding their marriage failed, say police.
Ankita was a fashion designer and worked with a multi-national firm. Her parents live in Anand Vihar area of Delhi.
Around 9:45 pm, Vijay Nagar police got information that a woman's body was lying in a pool of blood in the compound of Tower Number GH-7 of Crossing Republic.
A suicide note was recovered from the site which had the name of her boyfriend Ajit, police said.
"Ankita mentioned of Ajit in her suicide note, who is a doctor. She said in her suicide note that her body should be cremated by Ajit," Vijay Nagar Station Officer Hardayal Yadav said.
Police will soon interrogate Ajit, who is a resident of Dilshad Garden of Delhi. Police, however, are yet to find out why she went to the building in Crossing Republic.
