Ghaziabad: While onion prices continue to bring tears across the country, enterprising businessmen have found ways to cheer the consumers.

A readymade garments seller in Ghaziabad is offering the coveted vegetable free with a minimum purchase of Rs 2000 at his store.

Earlier this week, a dealer in Jamshedpur offered up to 5 kg of onion free with car and truck tyres in what he called his protest against the rising prices of the vegetable.

Meanwhile, onion continued to remain beyond the reach of common men. With prices soaring to Rs 80 per kg in major cities, the government was forced to take steps to boost supplies of the commodity by importing them and curbing their exports.

The Delhi government has also introduced mobile vans across the national capital to sell onion at subsidized rates.
