Ghaziabad:
The body of an engineering student, who allegedly had committed suicide, was cremated without an autopsy - mandatory for a mysterious death - as the police of two districts shifted responsibility, denying the incident occurred in their area.
Shobhit Sharma, 20, a second year student of a private engineering college here on Friday committed suicide by shooting himself with a pistol at his family home in Davendra Puri area of Modinagar.
He was taken to the local Jeewan Nursing Home where doctors declared him dead. The parents took the dead body to their native village Muzakipur falling under Partapur police station of Meerut where the last rites took place.
The Modinagar police claimed that both the incident and cremation occurred in Muzakipur, so they had nothing to do with the incident.
On the other hand, the Partapur police claimed such incident of cremation did not occur in the village and could have been at some other place if not in Davendrapuri itself.
The Partapur police have no knowledge of the incident happening in their area, added an officer from the police station.
