Ghaziabad:
A school teacher was allegedly assaulted by relatives of a girl student for not heeding to their request to promote her to the next class after she failed in the XI Standard examination, police said today.
Rahul Khuswaha, a physics teacher at the TRM School in Moradabad, 25 kms from here, was assaulted in the parking lot of the school by around eight people, they said.
Khuswaha fell unconscious after the attack and was admitted to a government hospital here in critical condition.
According to police, the father of the student Naresh Gujjar had called up Khuswaha earlier in the day asking him to pass his daughter but the teacher refused to do so.
The Class XI student failed in the exam as she was unable to obtain passing marks in four subjects.
The teacher's father Vijender filed a complaint against Gujjar and others but no one has been arrested yet, police said.
