Ghaziabad:
The Ghaziabad district police on Saturday arrested two constables from whose custody two prisoners escaped.
"After the two criminals escaped from their custody, constables Rajendra and Shyam Singh were suspended yesterday (Friday). Today (Saturday) an FIR has been registered against them at Kavi Nagar police station. The constables have been produced before competent court, which has sent them to judicial custody," said Circle Officer (CO) II Praveen Ranjan Singh.
The two escaped criminals are Mukesh, who was undergoing trial in a murder case and faced 18 cases of heinous crimes in different police stations of Noida and Ghaziabad, and Vikram, a member of a gang involved in stealing luxury cars.
On Friday, the two constables brought the two prisoners from Dasna jail to the court for hearing of their cases. When they did not return with the prisoners till late evening, senior police officers were informed.
Police finally tracked the two constables in the Sihani Gate police station area and took them in for questioning.
During interrogation, they claimed they were administered some intoxicating item in the meal, due to which they became unconscious and the two criminals escaped.
