Two houses robbed at gunpoint in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad: Unidentified armed robbers looted cash, jewellery and other valuables worth about Rs.35 lakh from the house of a retired official of the external affairs ministry on Monday, police said.

The incident occurred in Ramprastha locality under Link Road police station.

Police said four robbers entered 80-year-old Jai Kishan's house after breaking the grill of the kitchen window at around 4 am. They tied up Mr Kishan's wife Kiran and their 35-year-old daughter, who is physically disabled.

They robbed the family of Rs.5.30 lakh cash, two diamond rings, 70 gram gold, one-and-a-half kg silver, a laptop, nine mobile phones and other valuables.

The robbers then broke open the door of Kishan Kumar, a tenant on the upper floor and robbed the family at gunpoint.

"We have registered a case. A team has been constituted to nab the criminals," said Superintendent of Police (City) Shiv Shankar Yadav.
