Ghaziabad: Two people were killed and two critically injured in a blast in a scrapped oil tanker in Ghaziabad on Friday, police said.
The incident occurred at about 11.00 am on Friday in an open field in Hindon Vihar locality of Ghaziabad.
The oil tanker had been bought by three scrap traders who had dumped it in an open field outside their residence in Hindon Vihar.
They engaged three gas welders on Friday to cut open the tank. When the welders were opening the cover, a blast hurled the cover about 100 metres away, to a spot where three women were cutting grass for their cattle.
One of the welders, identified as Subrati, was killed on the spot. One of the three women, identified as Noor Jahan, succumbed to her injuries en route the hospital. The two other women, Zarina and Shaheen, are critically injured and have been admitted in the hospital.
