Wife burns engineer husband to death

Ghaziabad: A 32-year-old engineer was allegedly burnt to death by his wife in Panchsheel Nagar district, police said on Monday.

"Mahesh, an engineer and native of Bagpat district, married Gita in 2008 in Peernagar village. Due to some differences, Gita was living with her parents for the last two years and was working as a teacher in the village", Superintendent of Police Ram Swaroop said.

"On Saturday, Mahesh came to meet her and forced her to come with him along with their son. Gita refused to leave, following which Mahesh allegedly assaulted her", he said.

"Later at night, Gita, with help of her brothers, allegedly poured kerosene oil on him and set him afire. Mahesh suffered 90 per cent burn injuries and died in hospital on Sunday", Swaroop said.

"A complaint has been filed against five accused including Gita and her two brothers Lokesh and Rajender, who managed to escape when police raided their house", he added.
