Woman jumps to death from Ghaziabad highrise

Ghaziabad: Unlucky in the job market, a woman jumped to her death from the ninth floor of a newly constructed multi-storeyed building in the Vaishali area of Ghaziabad on Friday, police said.

Sakshi Maheswari, 25, used to work in a private company in Vaishali and was also pursuing a masters degree in business administration from an institute in Noida. She left the job some time ago but was unable to find a new one, said her suicide note recovered by police.

In the five-page note addressed to her father, the woman also mentioned that the decision to commit suicide was her own, police said.

Sakshi was from Kasganj in Uttar Pradesh where her father runs a jewellery business.

"She had rented a house in sector-5 Vaishali. She walked into the unoccupied newly-constructed Bhagirathi Apartments near Vaishali metro station around noon and jumped to her death from the ninth floor," said RK Pandey, circle officer, Ghaziabad police.
