Ghaziabad: A 25-year-old man was arrested for allegedly threatening to attack a girl with acid after her family rejected his marriage proposal, police said on Thursday.
According to the complaint filed by the girl's mother, their neighbour, Rohit had barged in their residence in Vasundhara in Ghaziabad last night and threatened them with dire consequences for not marrying her daughter to him, Indipuram SHO Gorakh Nath Yadav said.
The family later raised an alarm following which the neighbours caught hold of Rohit and handed him over to the police, Mr Yadav said.
An FIR under sections 354 (molestation), 452 (house trespass), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC has been registered against Rohit and he has been sent to jail, the SHO said.
