A 22-year-old man from Kerala was today detained at the Goa airport for allegedly smuggling gold in the country from Middle East, Customs officials said today.
Asif (full name not disclosed) was detained for carrying 300 grams of gold worth Rs seven lakh.
The gold was found in a paper foil in the possession of the man, a senior Customs official said.
The man, originally from Kasargod in Kerala, arrived at the airport in Panaji this morning from Dubai when he was apprehended.
