Czech man held for girlfriend's murder, faked his kidnapping

Panaji: A Czech man arrested for allegedly murdering a 25-year-old woman compatriot in a guest house at Baga beach village in Goa had faked his kidnapping to avoid suspicion and also destroyed evidence, police said.

Paval Neuhasl (19) was arrested yesterday for allegedly murdering his girlfriend Narkela Horka on Tuesday night. The facts came to light on Wednesday night when Mapusa Police found Paval in an unconscious state with minor wounds near Thivim Railway Station, 30 kms away from Baga.

During investigation, he claimed that two Indian men barged into the guest house where he was staying with Narkela and kidnapped him.

However, Superintendent of Police Vishram Borkar told PTI on Wednesday night that Paval allegedly staged his abduction to throw police off-track and also inflicted injuries on himself. Investigations so far have revealed that Paval after killing Narkela cleaned the room to destroy the evidence.

Police had recovered bruised body of Narkela from the guest house with a stab wounds on her neck
"Sections dealing with destruction of evidence and filing a fake case of kidnapping have been filed against Paval Neuhasl," Borkar said.

He said police recorded statement of a rickshaw driver who has confirmed that Paval had hired his vehicle from Baga to Thivim on Tuesday night.

Borkar said the motive behind the murder would be known only after custodial interrogation of the accused.
