Panaji: Goa's former Inspector General of Prisons Elvis Gomes today joined Aam Aadmi Party claiming that the state government was not only corrupt but had been systematically unfair to bureaucrats.

"I have seen this administration very closely for 19 years, and a lot of injustice has been done to bureaucrats. We have no idea as to whom they want to please and at what cost to the people," Mr Gomes said today. He was speaking in presence of AAP's senior leader Manish Sisodia.

Mr Gomes, an IAS officer who opted for voluntary retirement in July, faces serious charges of corruption and was booked by the Goa Police's Anti-Corruption Branch in connection with a land scam.

He, however, has denied all allegations.

"It is clear to everyone that the cases filed against me are completely bogus," Mr Gomes said.

He said he had challenged the FIR against him before the Goa bench of the Bombay High Court.

The former bureaucrat alleged massive corruption in the state administration and said, "The administration which exists in Goa is nowhere in India. The manipulations seen in Goa are not there anywhere in the country."

"There is no end to corruption here. It is not the chief minister or any other minister but the situation is such that the lowest functionary in the government can also influence the decision making process of the government," he said.
