Panaji:
Goa Police have expedited investigations to root out African drug cartel, allegedly operating from the coastal state, after reports pointed out involvement of traffickers in supplying the contrabands in recently busted rave parties in at least two states.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar told reporters today that two separate teams have been dispatched to Karwar (Karnataka) and Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh) to get details of the raids conducted on rave parties there.
The investigations after the raids, according to the media reports, had revealed that the drugs used for these parties were sourced from Goa.
A Ugandan national arrested in Hyderabad for supplying drugs in a rave party in Banjara Hills area there, claimed that he had purchased the drugs from a Nigerian operating from Goa.
Parrikar said that the details of investigations couldn't be shared with the media but one team had already returned from Karwar while another was still in Hyderabad.
Goa is fast emerging a drug destination with many instances of substance abuse--some involving foreign nationals--coming to light.
