Panaji: Goa Police have objected to two Electronic Dance Music (EDM) festivals scheduled to be held in North Goa in quick succession during the New Year rush.
"Last year we had raised objection on holding two EDMs next to each other. We have also raised our objection this year," Inspector General of Police Sunil Garg told reporters today.
EDMs - Sunburn and Supersonic - are held at Vagator and Candolim respectively during the last week of December. Due to the festivals there are maximum footfalls creating traffic problems, the IGP said.
Mr Garg said police have recommended to the state government that one of the festivals be shifted to South Goa. "If one of the festivals is shifted that becomes easier for police to have proper vigil and security in place," he said.
Sunburn was the first EDM to be held in Goa starting from 2007 after which supersonic festivals entered the state.
