Helmets Should Be Made Mandatory While Riding Bikes In Goa: Lawmaker

The opposition in Goa has demanded that helmets be made compulsory while riding motorbikes and mopeds.

Panaji, Goa: Goa's Leader of Opposition Pratapsinh Rane today demanded that helmets be made compulsory for two-wheeler riders.

"Person riding motorcycle never wears helmet. There is no check from transport department. Alike other states, make helmet compulsory for the rider and the pillion on two wheeler riders," Mr Rane said in the State Assembly moving the cut motions for demands for grants for Public Works Department, Transport and River Navigation departments.

He also said that state government should be strict while giving the driving licences.

"Young people die on the road. Please make licence issuing formality very strict," he commented.

"There is so much haphazard movement in transport sector due to which there is congestion. RTO should regulate this," Mr Rane said.
