Panaji: Five men from Haryana and Delhi were arrested for misusing the red beacon in Goa, where they came holidaying to usher in the New Year, police said today.
The men--Bhavesh Yadav, Yatendra Rao, Siddharth Yadav (from Delhi) Gautam Rathod and Hariom Khowa -- were arrested in Panaji yesterday by Anjuna police, who impounded the Haryana registered car on which the beacon was installed, a senior official said.
"Bhavesh Yadav claimed to be a Member of Legislative Assembly but failed to produce proof," the officer said.
During investigations, the men, however, confessed that they were impersonating as VVIPs to get clearance on roads.
