Police-drug peddling nexus: Goa police form SIT to probe case

Panaji, Goa: Goa Police today constituted a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the video footage
which allegedly showed an Anti - Narcotic Cell officer selling charas through two girls of foreign origin.

Police Sub Inspector Sunil Guddler was suspended last night, eight days after he was caught in the sting operation.

Police spokesperson Atmaram Deshpande said that SIT led by superintendent of Police Omprakash Kurtarkar will conduct the probe.

Two girls -- an Israeli and a Kazak -- had caught Guddler on camera while handing them drugs for sale, during the period when he headed the Anti-Narcotic Cell.

Ayala Driham, the Israeli national, had claimed that she carried out the sting operation because Guddler had framed up her bother David Driham alias Dudu in another narcotic case.
The other girl, the Kazak national Zarina, is Dudu's girlfriend.

The name of the superintendent of police Veenu Bansal, who is now posted in Arunachal Pradesh, too figures in the statement given by Ayala and Zarina to the Crime branch.

Sources stated that Crime Branch has faxed a summons to Bansal to appear before the investigating officer in this case.

The footage of the sting operation, which was aired on local newschannels, also showed Guddler confessing that he had threatened Dudu's landlord, one Sagar, that he would be framed up by planting drugs.

Guddler was also seen saying that his seniors too took bribes.
