Panaji:
Three persons were injured when a Russian national allegedly went on a stabbing spree near Baga beach in North Goa early this morning, police said today.
The accused, Edward Petrovich Goryachew, was arrested after a long chase when nearly 15 policemen surrounded him at Calangute beach, a senior police official said.
The accused in an inebriated condition stabbed three locals, including a shop owner and a rent-a-bike operator, at Baga beach.
He later fled from the scene on his motorcycle and continued brandishing the knife. Later, he was tracked at Calangute beach by a police team, the official said.
Realising that he was zeroed-in by police, the accused began rushing into the waters but was pulled out from the waves with the help of locals.
"The accused is being interrogated. All the three injured were shifted to a private hospital and their condition is stable," the official said.
