Panaji: In order to boost tourism between Goa and Thailand, Thai Airlines would soon be commencing a Goa-Thailand direct flight service, Thailand Consul General Ekpol Poolpipat said today.
Mr Poolpipat along with his officers called on Goa Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar at the secretariat in Panaji.
"Prime Minister of Thailand would be attending the BRICKS summit in Goa. During his visit, he would be meeting the Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar as well as officials of Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) and discuss various aspects of tourism exchange between Goa and Thailand and a proper plan would be finalised," Mr Poolpipat told reporters.
"Thai Airlines would soon commence Goa-Thailand direct flight service," he added.
Commenting that the service would help Thailand as well as Goa, Mr Poolpipat said initially the flight service could be once a week and depending on the response, frequency may be increased.
He further said Thailand tourism would organise road show and special exhibitions in Goa and would assist GTDC in organising such programs and promoting tourism in Thailand.
Mr Parulekar welcomed this initiative of Thailand tourism and reiterated that this arrangement would be helpful to both the parties.
Mr Poolpipat was briefed about the various activities undertaken by GTDC in promoting tourism.
