Gurgaon/Chandigarh:
It's the end of happy hour at the Gurgaon Toll Plaza.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court has ruled that starting 5 pm tomorrow, toll will be collected 24X7 for vehicles using the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway.
Because of massive traffic jams at the toll plaza near the Ambience Mall in Gurgaon, the court had first cancelled the collection of any toll, and then later placed a moratorium on payments during rush hour in the morning and evening.
The concessionaire, Delhi-Gurgaon Super Connectivity Ltd (DGSCL), had been taken to court by the local police. The court had asked for more toll booths to be added.
Today, the court said that a red line will mark a 400-metre distance from the toll plaza. When the queue of cars hits that line, the police have standing instructions to allow free passage to help commuters.
