Gurgaon: A traffic policeman was shot twice in Gurgaon on Monday for stopping three men from riding on a motorcycle. The incident happened at 7:30 pm near Signature Tower on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway.

After Assistant Sub-Inspector Narender Singh stopped the three men, an argument followed. One of the men then fired multiple rounds at Mr Singh, and then the three men fled from the spot on their motorcycle.

Mr Singh received two bullet injuries - one at the lower back and other on the thigh. He was taken to the Medanta Super Speciality Hospital in Gurgaon where he has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU); his condition is said to be stable.

The police are on the lookout for the three men; no arrests have been made so far.

In a similar incident in Ghaziabad - another Delhi suburb - a man fired in the air when cops tried to stop a car he and two others were travelling in. The three men escaped; they are currently untraceable.
