Gurgaon: Over a dozen five-star hotels in Gurgaon's Millennium City have been provided round-the-clock security, police have said today.
At least 14 five-star hotels or those having equivalent status in Gurgaon will be provided special security by Haryana Police.
"Eight policemen, armed with AK-47 and AK-56 rifles, have been deployed at each hotel.
Bunkers and special security posts have been erected in hotels to thwart any untoward incident," Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajesh Kumar told IANS.
Police Commissioner Navdeep Singh Virk said Gurgaon was safe and police were on high alert ahead of January 26 when US President Barack Obama will be chief guest at the Republic Day parade down Rajpath in New Delhi.
Security agencies routinely increase the threat perception ahead of Republic Day and Independence Day.
