Gurgaon:
The Gurgaon toll plaza has stopped collecting payments this morning after a massive traffic jam was caused with long lines of cars waiting in queue to pass through the plaza.
Last week, the Punjab and Haryana High Court had ordered that if the line of cars hit a 400-metre mark from the plaza, toll collection should be stopped to ensure there is no traffic congestion. Cars using the Gurgaon-Delhi Expressway pay Rs 21 when they cross the border between the capital and Haryana.
The problems caused by the toll plaza have been raised in court by the local Gurgaon police. The court asked the private concessionaire to set up more toll collection windows. Rush hours in the morning and evening were made toll-free for a few weeks. That ban was lifted late last week.
