Gurgaon: A final year student of the Institute of Law and Management Studies in sector 40 of Gurgaon was arrested and sent to judicial custody on Saturday for allegedly thrashing a woman lecturer, police said.
The arrested man was identified as Ajay Chaudhary, 23, and a resident of Palam Vihar, Gurgaon.
"Ajay was produced before the court of duty magistrate. The court sent him to judicial custody for 14 days," Jaiprakash, chief of sector 40 police station, told IANS.
"A re-examination of the semester test was being held on Saturday. However, the accused reached the examination hall around 10 in the morning while the exam started 9.30 a.m.," Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajiv Yadav said.
"He forcibly took the answer sheet from the invigilator before thrashing and abusing her when she objected to his act," he said.
Chaudhary was arrested after the examination was over.
"We arrested him under sections 294, 323, 506 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code," Yadav added.
