Gurgaon: The Gurgaon Police on Saturday arrested Rohtas Tayal, the owner of the plot where five-year-old Mahi died after falling in a borewell last month.

The owner had been on the run since the incident took place. The police had earlier arrested two people allegedly digging a borewell near the site of the incident.

Five-year-old Mahi had died in Khaow village near Gurgaon's Manesar area after spending nearly 85 hours in the 70-feet-deep borewell. Sources at the hospital, where she was taken soon after being pulled out, said the girl probably died just hours after falling into the borewell outside her house, when she was playing with her friends after her birthday celebrations.

Mahi had turned five that day, and her parents had thrown a party at this village, mostly populated by migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar - all of whom work at various construction sites across Gurgaon.
